Ferries, planes and Eurostar trains resume from Wednesday after agreement reached

Planes, boats and the Eurostar will resume their service on Wednesday morning.

On Sunday night, the French border closed at 11pm, with all trains on the Eurotunnel and Eurostar suspended and ferries from Port of Dover also stopped.

A string of European and other countries halted air travel from Britain because of a new and seemingly more contagious strain of the coronavirus in England.

However, an agreement is believed to have been reached with France, with more details released later tonight.

French transport minister Jean-Baptiste Djebbari has tweeted to confirm the news.

He added: “French nationals, residents and those with a legitimate reason to be here must provide a negative test.”

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps also tweeted: “Good progress today and agreement with the French Government on borders.

“We will provide an update on hauliers later this evening, but hauliers must still NOT travel to Kent this evening.”

Meanwhile, Turkey has identified and quarantined 4,603 airline passengers who arrived from the United Kingdom on and after December 14.

Flights from the UK, South Africa, Denmark and the Netherlands were suspended on Sunday evening in response to a new strain of coronavirus said to be circulating there.
