Ferrari worth £250,000 wrecked in crash

A gutted motorist has been left counting the cost after flipping a £250,000 Ferrari supercar onto its roof during a nasty crash which left their pride and joy wrecked.

The yellow Ferrari 488 GTB sports car was found upside down in a bush after losing control in the High Peak area of Derbyshire on Sunday, June 28.

Derbyshire Live reports police discovered the driver's badly damaged luxury motor along the A628 Woodhead Pass, which crosses the Pennine hills in the Peak District National Park.

Dramatic pictures taken by Derbyshire Constabulary's High Peak Response show the mangled high performance vehicle on its roof and on the back of a tow truck.

Officers said it was an "expensive trip" for the motorist and stated there had been a number of similar incidents in the High Peak over the weekend.

They tweeted: "An expensive trip up the Woodhead Pass today for this driver. One of a number of reported collisions today across the High Peak."

Residents said on social media convoys of supercars were seen in the area over the wet and rainy weekend travelling through the picturesque countryside.

Daniel Hampson wrote: "Saw about 8/9 Ferrari's today pass me as I was heading out of Glossop towards Crowden, then a bit further on and this one on its roof! Sure enough it was supposed to be with the others!"

A Derbyshire Police spokeswoman said: "We were called to report a single car collision in in Woodhead Road, Tintwistle just before 11.40am yesterday morning (Sun).

“A yellow Ferrari had left the road and landed on its roof.

"The driver and a passenger were taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution, but sustained minor injuries only.”
