Ferrari, Rolex watches and a deluxe Spanish villa among £2.3 million of seized criminal loot being sold at bargain prices

A Ferrari and a villa in Spain are among seized assets being auctioned off for a fraction of their retail price.

The collection of high-end items, worth an estimated £2.3 million, includes Rolex watches and footwear confiscated from a jailed drug dealer.

They will all go under the hammer with no reserve at Wilsons Auctions in Newport next week.

Unreserved government auctions feature assets confiscated by various government bodies and agencies, including the police, HM Customs and Excise and bailiffs, but also liquidators, executors and even lost property departments.

The auction on Wednesday, August 14, will include the sale of 1999 Ferrari 360 Modena, seized by the Asset Recovery Bureau in Malta.

The vehicle was linked to a drug-trafficking offence in Malta and following a police operation was later confiscated by the courts.

Other auction highlights include a rose gold Rolex Daytona, with a retail value of £27,450, a rare Wimbledon Dial Rolex Datejust, with a retail value of £8,900 and a selection of designer trainers from Christian Louboutin, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Balenciaga, Burberry and many more worth up to £1,200 per pair.

The watches and some of the trainers were confiscated from convicted London-based drug dealer Stefan Miller.

The 30-year-old, of Larch Close, Wandsworth, London, admitted conspiracy to supply cocaine and heroin between April 1 and June 30 2017.

He was also convicted of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply at Gloucester Crown Court.

Miller was jailed for 11 years in March after police seized more than £100,000 worth of heroin and crack cocaine, according to GloucestershireLive .

A Proceeds of Crime Act hearing in the same court heard that Miller had benefited by £175,000 from his drug dealing and was found to have £63,594.80 in realisable assets. A confiscation order was made out for that amount.

The assets were mainly designer shoes - 44 pairs worth more than £12,800 - and the two Rolex watches, that police found in Miller’s home in London.

This month Wilsons Auctions Newport will also be auctioning a selection of government instructed properties across England and as far away as Spain.

Among them is a freehold five-bedroom detached villa close to the town of Campos del Rio and the ancient city of Murcia.

The property has a guide price of £225,000 and contains a pool, jacuzzi, air conditioning and a garage.

A freehold mid-terrace property is also going under the hammer with a guide price of £550,000.

Located in Ilford, London, the property includes three bedrooms, a loft bedroom with en-suite and has an extended kitchen/diner with under floor heating as well as a brick built outbuilding and off-road parking.

Wilsons Auctions’ government sales coordinator Michael Streight said: "Our next Unreserved Government Auction has some eye-catching items that should grab the attention of those hoping to invest in designer shoes, Rolex watches or even make the dream of owning a Ferrari a reality.

"With the auction available to both physical and online bidders it is open to a worldwide audience and gives customers the chance to purchase quality goods for an affordable price.

"Wilsons Auctions plays an important role in realising any type of asset on behalf of our government clients which has seen us responsible in returning £100 million back into the public purse in recent years."

The unreserved government auction will take place at Wilsons Auctions on Usk Way, Newport, on Wednesday, August 14.
