Ferrari pulled over and fined for registration plate blunder

The driver of a supercar was pulled over after detectives spotted an unusual way of displaying the registration plate.

Police noticed the number plate on the silver Ferrari - thought to be a 488 Spider worth more than £200,000 - was written in stickers.

It seems the owner had removed the registration plate and put stickers on the bonnet instead, Manchester Evening News report.

The car looked like it had no front registration plate on, so police in Hale, Manchester, pulled it over on Tuesday afternoon.

But on closer inspection, officers noticed that the owner had placed sticky letters and numbers on the bonnet to display the car registration.

The driver of the car was not the owner but was in fact a "giddy" passenger, who had been given the chance to drive the supercar.

The owner was sitting in the passenger seat.

DVLA

Police went on to issue a Traffic Offence Report and a £100 fine to keeper of the Ferrari.

According to guidance from the DVLA, the numbers on a front plate on a vehicle must display black characters on a white background.

They also have to be measured to a specific size and height.

Those not complying to the rules can be fined up to £1,000.

A photo of the car being pulled over by police was posted on the GMP Trafford South Facebook page.

Dozens of people commented on the post with many offering praise for the force.

Janet joked: "Boys and their toys!"

Adam added: "Good job, why are cars like this allowed on the roads anyway?"
