Ferran Torres lays down Man City Champions League marker after Leeds United defeat

Ferran Torres has laid down a marker for Manchester City following the 2-1 defeat to Leeds United, ahead of this week's Champions League test against Borussia Dortmund.

City are within touching distance of the Premier League title but any celebrations were delayed by a defeat to Marcelo Bielsa's side.

That loss comes in the middle of the Champions League double-header against Dortmund, with City winning 2-1 in midweek and having work to do in Wednesday's second leg.

With Dortmund netting an away goal at the Etihad, the Bundesliga side have given themselves a chance of turning the tide of the match when they welcome City to the Signal Iduna Park.

While City are disappointed following the defeat to Leeds, Torres has talked up the importance of this week's match as Pep Guardiola's side look to make the semi-finals of Europe's elite competition.

"We are obviously sad for the result but the good thing is that we're still top of the table with a good margin," he told the club website.

"We know Marcelo Bielsa's teams run a lot. They are a difficult team to beat and when they went down to ten men, they stayed back and made it difficult.

"We created a lot of chances but couldn't score them today. Every game in the Premier League is difficult but in every game, for us, we need to focus on our game and try to win.

"Now, we need to turn the page and focus on the Champions League game. It doesn't stop and we want to be in the semi-finals."

City are among three Premier League sides vying for a spot in the final four of the Champions League, with Chelsea beating Porto in their first leg and Liverpool losing to Real Madrid.
