Ferniegair police incident: Schoolboy attacked at playing field as cops hunt four men

Police are hunting for four men after a schoolboy was attacked at a playing field.

The 15-year-old was assaulted on a footpath next to a playing field in Ferniegair on Friday evening, leaving him with injuries to his face.

Police say the teenager was walking in the area when a car stopped and four men got out before they launched the vicious attack.

They then sped off in the direction of Larkhall after passing drivers intervened to help the boy out.

Police have launched an investigation and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward. They've issued descriptions of the four suspects and the car they were in.

A statement published by Lanarkshire Police Division this afternoon advised: "An investigation is ongoing after a teenage boy was assaulted in the Ferniegair area of South Lanarkshire.

"The incident happened around 7.30pm on Friday, 2 April on the footpath next to the grass playing field off Carlisle Road.

"The 15-year-old was walking in the area at the time when a car stopped and four men got out. They approached the boy and assaulted him, causing facial injuries.

"The car is described as a grey or possibly light green estate car, possibly a Skoda.

"One of the men is described as being white, around 18-19-years-old, around 5ft 10in tall and of muscular build with brown hair cut short at the sides and longer on the top.

"He was wearing a bright blue hooded top and black shorts.

"Another of the men is described as being 20-21-years-old with a shaved head.

"The four men got back in the car and drove off in the direction of Larkhall after passing drivers stopped and intervened."

Constable Scott Pender of Hamilton Police Station commented: "Our inquiries into this incident are ongoing and we would urge anyone who may have been in the area to come forward.

"We would be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam or private CCTV footage of the incident.

"Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting incident 4123 of 2 April, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
