Former Spurs striker Fernando Llorente has send a goodbye message to Tottenham fans after completing a transfer to Serie A side Napoli.
The Spaniard left Tottenham at the expiry of his contact at the end of last season after two years at the club. An official announcement of Lorente's exit wasn't made until today (Monday), as, as reported by football.london the player had an offer of a new one-year deal on the table from Spurs.
The striker has been on the lookout for a new club over the summer and kept fit by training with Sevilla's B team. He had been linked with a number of clubs, including Manchester United, but it is Napoli who have won the race for his signature.
Llorente has signed a two-year deal with the Italian club.
The 34-year-old scored 13 goals in 66 appearances for Spurs after joining from Swansea City in the summer of 2017 and played a big part in the club reaching the Champions League final last season.
After completing his move, Llorente has taken to social media to say his goodbye to Tottenham fans.
"After two wonderful seasons, today I say goodbye to Tottenham," he wrote.
"It was a pleasure to wear this shirt and wherever I go there will be always a space in my heart for Tottenham and for their fans. I wish you all the best for this season and for the future! Thanks."
The striker will now return to play in Serie A where he scored 27 goals in 92 appearances for Juventus between the years of 2013 and 2015.
