Fernando Henrique Celtic transfer update as Gremio relegation sparks player sales

Gremio are desperate to offload Fernando Henrique in January who is heavily linked with a move to Celtic, according to reports in Brazil.

Celts boss Ange Postecoglou will be looking to add to his ranks in January with the likes of Reo Hatate and Daizen Maedar rumoured to be arriving at Parkhead.

Defensive midfielder Henrique has also been tipped for a move to the Scottish Premiership as part of the Australian's overhaul, as the Daily Record reports.

The 20-year-old is a Brazilian youth international but he was unable to help the Porto Alegre side drop out of the top flight on the final day of their Serie A season.

NF state that Gremio are now keen to offload a number of players to slash their wage budget for the Serie B campaign next term.

Right-back Vanderson has is set to be sold to Brentford, and it is noted that following Celtic's "approach" the club are keen to allow Henrique to follow him out of the door.

It is stated that the money from the sales of the pair will be used for "pay for terminations" of other players at the club.

Boss Vagner Mancini is set to stay to attempt to fight for promotion next term and Henrique did not make an appearance since September, so a route back to the first-team appears unlikely
