Fernandinho's two word response to journalists in mixed zone after Man City crash out of Champions League

Emotions were running high after Man City crashed out of the Champions League in the most dramatic of fashions against Tottenham Hotspur.

The tie was finely poised after the first leg, which Spurs won 1-0 thanks to Heung-min Son, but no body could have anticipated the incredible, whirlwind encounter we got at the Etihad.

The game was just 21 minutes old and five goals had already been scored, with City winning 3-2 thanks to a Raheem Sterling brace and Bernardo Silva.

City still needed another goal and they got it in the second half through Sergio Aguero but Fernando Llronte notched a controversial goal that struck his arm but was awarded by VAR.

City needed to score again to go through and they thought they had it when Aguero laid off Sterling in the box, whose deft touch made the space for him to fire past Hugo Llorris and send City fans into meltdown.

But then it went to VAR, the goal was disallowed and Spurs held on to win. Heartbreaking.

Fernandinho was seen in the mixed zone after the game and according to the Daily Mirror's Simmon Mullock the Brazilian's two word response to the epic conclusion was: "F*** VAR."

He was then spotted slamming the door as he left the stadium.

Why controversial Fernando Llorente goal for Tottenham Hotspur vs Man City would be disallowed next season

City players are certain to be devastated at losing in such circumstances but they must bounce back quickly at Spurs visit the Etihad again on Saturday in the Premier League.

A victory will be vital in the race with Liverpool for the title.
