Fernandinho agrees new Man City contract and more transfer rumours

Fernandinho has agreed on a new one-year deal with Manchester City.

That is according to the Daily Mail who report Fernandinho, 36, has finally reached an agreement with the Blues to renew his contract at the club after his previous deal was set to expire at the end of this month, which could have seen him leave on a free transfer.

Despite entering the autumn of his career, Fernandinho has proved he can still perform at an elite level this season and his outstanding displays, combined with his leadership qualities, make him invaluable to Pep Guardiola's side.

It's believed the Catalan was desperate to extend Fernandinho's contract and reports suggest he's now got his wish - the article claims an official announcement on the Brazilian's extension is expected before City return to pre-season training.

The MEN understands Guardiola is open to sanctioning exits for some of his star players this summer and the reports linking Bernardo Silva with a move away from City refuse to settle, with the Transfer Window Podcast now also reporting on the potential sale.

It's claimed that Bernardo and Guardiola had agreed that the Portugal star could leave City at the end of this season if he desired and now a transfer to La Liga seems feasible, with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid both reportedly interested in securing his signature.
