Manchester United won their first Premier League since late October against Arsenal on Thursday night.
Ralf Rangnick was officially appointed as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's interim successor earlier this week, but after encountering work permit issues, the German was forced to watch on in the stands at Old Trafford as Michael Carrick stood on the touchline once again.
It was announced after the game that Carrick had decided to step down as first-team coach and leave the club.
The former midfielder parts ways with United with an unbeaten record as caretaker manager. That record was in threat versus Arsenal, but Cristiano Ronaldo's brace ensured that United won the three points, which moved the Reds to seventh in the league.
Here are the moments the game that you might have missed...
Fernandes' embrace with Carrick
Carrick has done an admirable job as caretaker boss in difficult circumstances and Fernandes showed his appreciation on Thursday.
While Fernandes admitted that he was 'really mad' at Carrick last week after he was benched for the Reds' trip to Villarreal, that didn't stop him from springing up from the bench to embrace Carrick immediately after the full-time whistle went against Arsenal.
Carrick has proved a classy operator and he can look back on his 15 years spent at Old Trafford with great fondness.
Ronaldo's commitment
Ronaldo might have picked up a knock in the second half but he was still chasing his hat-trick.
The 36-year-old appeared in some discomfort, yet when Jadon Sancho orchestrated a counter-attack - it's important to note that United were 3-2 up at this stage - he came alive and sprinted the full length of the pitch, albeit the chance came to no avail.
Ronaldo now has 801 career goals and that moment perfectly explains how he's reached such stratospheric heights.
His longevity is simply remarkable.
Maguire was fortunate
Takehiro Tomiyasu was pulled down in the box by Harry Maguire in the first half but the incident wasn't checked by VAR.
It's hard not to imagine that Arsenal would have been given a penalty if the incident had been reviewed.
Although Maguire was excellent last night, it seems he was fortunate to get away with this challenge.
