Detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch “investigating the death of a five-year-old girl in Newtownabbey” on Sunday, December 15 confirmed they have charged a 31-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman with murder.

They added that the pair have also been charged with causing GBH with intent and causing or allowing the death of a child. The pair are due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Saturday morning (December 21).

It is understood the charges are related to an incident in the Fernagh Drive area. The charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
