Fern Britton 'makes dig' at ex-husband Phil Vickery after he's seen kissing her best pal

Fern Britton appeared to make a dig at her former husband Phil Vickery after he was spotted kissing her ex-best friend.

The presenter took to Twitter with a culinary-themed tweet, which could have been aimed at the TV chef. The 65-year-old shared the snap of her attempt at Coq-Au-Vin with what could be a dig at Phil who recently went public with his new partner Lorraine Stanton, writes The Mirror.

"Can’t beat ⁦@MaryBerrysFoods recipe for #CoqAuVin. Substituted onions for shallots and carrots for mushrooms. ⁦ @AuntBessies comfort dumplings popped on top. A supper drenched with innuendo," she wrote.

Twitter users saw the funny side, with one writing: "Nice dumplins Fern!" Another wrote: "Puts Ready, Steady Cook into the shade, doesn't it, Fern….." - a comment that Fern liked.

Her post comes after The Sun revealed that Phil may have been secretly dating her friend Lorraine for two years. Photos of the pair locking lips during a date in London were said to have ruffled a few feathers after Fern split with Phil in 2020.

Holding suitcases and a Fortnum and Mason bag, the pair shared a lingering public kiss. They took a romantic stroll before heading into a luxurious Mayfair property near Berkeley Square.

The couple then emerged from the building at 2pm carrying the bags before kissing. A source told The Sun: "They look like teenagers in love and that will be just so hurtful for Fern.

“Behaving this way in public will feel like a betrayal.” Lorraine, who works in hospitality, has been pals with Fern for decades.

The pair have embarked on charity bike rides together and enjoyed shopping trips near Fern's new home in Cornwall. She would often leave comments on Fern's photos, including one which read "fabulous gorgeous as ever xx".

Fern and Lorraine's friendship came to an abrupt end in 2020 when they both unfriended each other on social media. At the same time, Fern also suggested it was "easier to forgive your enemies than your friends" in a Twitter post.

This was eight months after she and Phil announced their split. When asked about the photos, Lorraine's husband Simon told The Sun: "I don’t know when I’ll be in a position to speak to my wife about them.

“I’m not at home at the moment and neither is my wife. She hasn’t been for a while.” Lorraine claims that the Sun's photos had nothing to do with the breakdown of her marriage.

"It's a difficult time for me and the family. I don't actually live in the marital home anymore and it's got nothing to do with the latest incident over the pictures," she wrote.

"We are going through a grieving period as a family, and I've also just lost my stepfather. My children are feeling very vulnerable, and they are very upset about the whole situation."

The shots were taken a day after Phil cooked a sausage bake on This Morning, before tucking into it with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield. The Sun claimed that he stayed in a flat in the city after shooting the show.

This Morning stars Phil, 61, and Fern, 65, separated after 20 years in 2020. Phil's representatives have been contacted for comment.
