Fern Britton gutted that Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes lost This Morning slot

Fern Britton has shared her disappointment that Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have lost their weekly Friday slot on This Morning.

The TV presenter, who hosted the ITV show from 1999 until 2009, took to Twitter to say "oh no" when she heard about the news last night.

On Saturday the Mirror exclusively revealed that Ruth and Eamonn will no longer host This Morning on Fridays, and will be replaced by fan favourites Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

They will continue to host the show from Mondays to Thursday during the six week holidays when Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are on their summer break.

The news has angered fans of the programme, who have threatened to boycott the show unless the married couple get their weekly slot back.

Fern took to Twitter late last night to share a thread criticising the move.

"Oh no ?" Fern tweeted.

Fern famously had a feud with Phil, who she used to host This Morning with.

Friends claimed she felt "undervalued" by ITV bosses  and was "living in Phil's shadow".

The TV star handed in her notice in 2009, less than half way through her two year £1.5million contract.

It was claimed that she had discovered she was paid £250,000 a year less than Phil, whose salary had soared during his time on the programme.

He also reportedly earned three times her salary while they were presenting Mr & Mrs together - his £45,000 per hour to her £15,000.

Four years later in 2013, Phil revealed that he and Fern no longer spoke and hinted at a rift between them.

In his autobiography Life's What You Make It, Phil shared his sadness that Fern didn't text him when he came out as gay.
