Fermanagh classic car show to raise funds for Air Ambulance

A vintage car show is due to take place in Co Fermanagh to raise funds for Air Ambulance Northern Ireland.

The classic car show, which is being run by the Erne Vintage Car Club, will take place over the weekend of 22 to 24 October at Castle Irvine.

Up to 70 classic cars and tractors will be on show at the event, as well as the Air Ambulance helicopter itself.

George Ogle of the Erne Vintage Car Club said the show would be an event for the whole family and raise much needed funds for a worthwhile cause.

“There’s about 70 cars booked in at the minute and they are booked in at the big arena in Castle Irvine,” George said.

“It’s a massive big arena, and we have tractors and other bits and pieces as well, and we will be there all weekend.

“We will also have the Air Ambulance helicopter there for people to see and speak to some of the volunteers there to find out a bit more about the work they do."

This is the first event hosted by the car club since the beginning of the pandemic, with former Air Ambulance volunteer George encouraging people to get out and support the charity.

“The Air Ambulance are providing a service to the community and they are doing a great job," he said.

“It takes an awful lot of money to run it and keep that system up and going.

“I was a volunteer with them myself and saw first hand the great work that they do, it’s a very worthwhile cause.”
