Ferguslie Park – Man seriously assaulted after being approached by youth gang

Police are hunting a gang of youths after a man was attacked in Ferguslie Park.

The 43-year-old was approached by the group, who began shouting remarks at the victim and his friend as they sat in grass near the railway arches between Whitesbridge Avenue and Ferguslie Park Avenue at around 5pm yesterday.

Hes sustained facial injuries after one male assaulted him. The group then made off in the direction of Ferguslie Park.

The man was treated at Royal Alexandra Hospital and later released.

Detectives are appealing for information.

Detective Constable Martyn Renfrew of Paisley Police Office said:  “Our enquiries are at an early stage into this incident and we are speaking with the injured man to find out more information on this incident, and trace the suspects.

“At this time I would urge any witnesses to the serious assault, or anyone with information that may assist our investigation to contact Paisley Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 2921 of Thursday 18 July 2019.  Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
