Ferguslie homes hit with severe flooding following heavy rainfall

These dramatic pictures show areas of Ferguslie which have been hit with severe flooding.

A number streets, homes and buildings in the area have been impacted by floodwater caused by torrential downpours which took place over the weekend and continued throughout the day yesterday.

The heavy rainfall comes following a yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office on Thursday.

Residents took to social media to show the rising waters on the streets outside their homes in the Ferguslie area and across other parts of Renfrewshire.

Renfrewshire Council worked through the night to try and clear the worst affected areas.

The Tannahill Centre, which is located in Blackstoun Road, has been forced to close it's doors due to water pouring in through the ceiling.

Alongside a video posted on Facebook which shows the extent of the flooding in the usually busy community centre, a post read: "Like many people in Ferguslie we’ve been badly affected by the adverse weather. As such we will be closed today, please visit our social media pages for further updates."

Staff from Ferguslie Park Housing Association have also been working to help residents whose homes have been affected by the flood water and it is understood some people had to be removed from their homes.
