Fentanyl crisis: Canada communities respond to overdose deaths

The synthetic opioid drug fentanyl is causing thousands of overdose deaths across North America.

Last year in the Canadian city of Vancouver, more than 900 people died of an overdose of the illegal drug, which can be more than a 100 times more powerful than heroin.

As Canada’s authorities struggle to respond to the wave of deaths, drug users and their supporters are taking action.

Al Jazeera's Daniel Lak reports from Vancouver.
