Fenerbahce make Mesut Ozil transfer plan - Arsenal 'set to pay percentage of his wages'

Fenerbahce are ready to make a swoop for Arsenal's Mesut Ozil, according to reports from Turkey.

Ozil struggled in north London under Unai Emery last season, who dropped him regularly for tactical reasons. The German World Cup winner is also a huge strain on the club's resources, given he is Arsenal's best-paid player and Emery has little money to spend in the transfer window.

Ozil is a boyhood Fenerbahce fan, and the Turkish club are confident they can bring the midfielder in on loan for the season after drawing up a transfer plan.

Ozil earns around £13.5million per season at Arsenal, but Fenerbahce are looking to pay £8million towards his wages for the coming campaign.

The Gunners will pay the remaining £5.5million owed to Ozil for the season, report Fanatik.

Ozil appears keen to remain at Arsenal, amid claims he loves living in London.

But former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit reckons he has lost his way at the Emirates in recent years.

Petit previously told Mirror Football: "I have huge respect for Ozil but the Ozil I used to watch years ago, he was one of the best attacking midfield players in the world, he was a pleasure to watch.

"Now it's not even a pleasure or a desire to see him in the team because he's lost it.

"Ozil is a big player but he's not a big personality. He never talks. Sometimes I think he's a ghost on the pitch. He never says anything to his team-mates. He never shows any emotion."
