Fenerbahce interested in signing Bristol City winger Niclas Eliasson - report

Turkish side Fenerbahce are keen on a move for Bristol City winger Niclas Eliasson, according to reports.

Eliasson has one year left on his contract at Ashton Gate after the club exercised a one-year extension option and may have to sell the winger as they look to raise funds for transfers this summer.

He has been in exciting form for the Robins, setting up 12 goals this season, a record only Jed Wallace (Millwall) and Matheus Pereira (West Brom) have bettered.

Fenerbahce are not the first club to be circling Eliasson, with Lazio, Celtic and Villarreal all previously credited with interest, and the Robins may consider selling him if the winger doesn't commit to a new deal.

Selling this summer would get rid of the risk of losing him on a free next summer and City could surely command a respectable fee oafterhis season at Ashton Gate.

Turkish website Fotospor report that the club are already holding talks with the player's agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, ahead of a move this summer.

The agent has already admitted that 'something big' could be happening to Eliasson this summer. With clubs circling in January, Cetinkaya said: "Bristol want to keep him for their aims to move up.

"Then he has an option in his contract the club will use.

“Interest comes from big clubs and major leagues and clubs are looking to buy him now but Bristol has said no. That’s all I can say right now. But in the summer window, something big could happen to Niclas.”

The report suggests his current contract could be causing a problem, with the winger still under contract at Ashton Gate and not available on a free, but Eliasson could be one of two City players heading to the Super Lig this summer.

Fenerbahce have also been linked with a move for City striker Famara Diedhiou. City have been in on-off negotiations with Diedhiou as he enters the final year of his contract, but is yet to commit and City face a similar situation to that of Eliasson's.

The Robins may be forced to sell and the Turkish club have expressed an interest. Reports earlier this year suggested City have contacted the club regarding their interest and may look to sell if contract talks are at an impasse.
