Fenerbahce 'in talks' to sign Manchester United defender and more transfer rumours

Manchester United outcast Marcos Rojo is being targeted by Fenerbahce with the Turkish side in talks over his services - according to reports.

The Argentine has slipped down the pecking order following the arrival of Harry Maguire and has been deemed surplus to requirements by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United were actively trying to sell Rojo during the summer transfer window and he almost completed a move to Everton.

However, the Toffees were only interested in a loan deal, with United preferring to offload him permanently which led to the move falling through.

Nevertheless, reports in Turkey now suggest that Fenerbache are leading the race for his signature as they seek defensive cover on the left.

After being rejected by Aleksandar Kolorov, Rojo is now their number one target and could sign a deal worth €2.5m.

The club are hoping that United will be lenient this time around and allow the 29-year-old, who still has two years on his current deal, to join on a free loan.

Elsewhere, Roma's hopes of signing Alexis Sanchez were dashed as Solskjaer revealed the forward is a part of his plans this season.

The Telegraph report that the Italian giants have held talks regarding a loan switch, but the Reds would have to cover a substantial amount of Sanchez's extraordinary wages.

As a result, it seems the forward won't be leaving any time soon.
