Fence smashed down and metal railing broken in Lockleaze incident

A metal railing was left jutting out onto pavement and a garden fence knocked over in a Lockleaze incident.

Locals first shared pictures to social media on August 30 of what appears to be a crash scene at the junction of Wessex Avenue and Filton Avenue.

One Twitter user wrote: "Bit concerned about chunks of broken metal railing obstructing the whole pavement at the bottom of Wessex Avenue.

The scene on Filton Avenue before the section of metal railing was removed (David Wilcox)

"Scraps of police tape & broken fence suggest accident yest but no sign of measures to make the area safe or warn pedestrians."

Horfield Councillor Claire Hiscott commented on the post yesterday, saying she had reported the incident to the council and the scene would be made safe that afternoon.

When Bristol Live visited the area at 2.30pm today, the metal barrier was no longer blocking the pavement, a section of it having been removed.

Pieces of police tape were strewn near the knocked-down fence and on the road.

Avon and Somerset police and Bristol City Council have been approached for comment.
