Female teacher who kissed pupil in club on boozy night out banned from classroom

A teacher reportedly 'passionately' kissed a male pupil from her school during a boozy night out with a colleague.

Jennifer Arding, 29, and her colleague Charlotte Bradley, 32, were banned from teaching after being brought before a professional misconduct hearing.

The pair drank vodka and wine before going to a nightclub in Rochester, Kent, with a girl who used to attend their school.

They bumped into a cluster of ex-students at Casino Rooms nightclub and decided to party with the group, the misconduct hearing heard.

However, an 18-year-old lad studying at St John’s Catholic Comprehensive School, in Gravesend, then started dancing with Arding and Bradley.

Arding, an RE teacher and deputy head of year, ended up 'passionately' kissing the pupil, the hearing heard.

It is said the encounter in December 2017 lasted for a few minutes, Mail Online reports.

The trio all went back to Bradley's home, where they stayed overnight, although no further inappropriate behaviour took place.

The youngster got an Uber back home in the morning, the hearing at Cheylesmore House in Coventry was told.

Arding told the disciplinary panel that although she and 'Pupil A' shared a kiss, she had not intended for it to happen.

She added that he initiated the kiss and had attempted to get with other people in the club.

After the night out, Arding texted the pupil: "Make sure that you won’t say anything about last night, I could lose my job over it."

The teacher insisted she had no interest in a sexual relationship with Pupil A and said there was no background of flirting in their relationship.

She described the kiss as a 'spontaneous moment of stupidity'.

Arding and Bradley said they thought they had been spiked at the club, although both resigned over the episode.

The school investigated the encounter after a complaint from a pupil's mother and the emergence of a video of the incident.

Despite being banned from teaching 'indefinitely' for unacceptable professional conduct, the pair can apply to return to the classroom after two years.
