A female member of staff was threatened by two men armed with knives and wearing balaclavas in a Derry shop.

The pair made off with cigarettes, cash and a mobile phone after the robbery on Northland Avenue on Thursday evening.

The PSNI are now appealing for any relevant information to be reported to them.

One of the males is described as being around 5'10" tall, of stocky build and was wearing a grey jumper, dark blue track bottoms and blue and black Nike trainers.

The second male was around 5'7" tall, of slim build and wore a black coat and black leggings.

The member of staff whose phone was taken was not physically injured as a result of the incident but was left badly shaken.

Inquiries into this incident are currently ongoing.

The police are appealing for anyone with information to contact detectives on the Strand Road on 101, with reference number 1756.
