PRACHIN BURI: A woman working on a roadside flower bed was hit and killed by a pickup truck after it was rear-ended by a car in Muang district of this eastern Central province on Sunday.

Police said the accident occurred at about 1.30pm when the Toyota car, driven by Somphot Katanyu, rammed into the rear of the Isuzu pickup, driven by Krisda Khemratsadorn, near Ban Noen Sung intersection on Prachin Buri-Khao Yai road.

The impact caused the pickup to skid off the road onto the roadside flower bed where Wirat Chankerdsap, 64, was tending flowers. The woman suffered severe head trauma and was killed instantly

The pickup was taking a number of people from the South for a tour of Khao Yai National Park.

Police were investigating.
