Female jogger raped as she went on early morning run through London park

A woman jogger was raped as she ran through a south London park with police launching a hunt for the hunted.

The victim was running through the Streatham Common area around 5am on the morning of Thursday December 23, when the attack took place.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area to come forward.

Police say the victim was attacked while running a route into Streatham Common via the north side of the park.

The suspect is believed to have fled towards a Sainsbury's supermarket on Streatham High Road.

A Met Police spokeswoman said: "The suspect is described as a tall male of athletic build, who was wearing dark clothing with a hood and face covering and gloves.

"He was also wearing white scruffy trainers.

"There is no further description of him at this stage. He is described as having an English accent. The incident was reported to police on December 28."
