Female jogger hit from behind onto bonnet of 4x4 driven by elderly lady who didn't stop

Police are investigating after a woman was hit from behind by a 4x4 before the driver fled the scene.

The collision happened at 8.45am on Tuesday, July 7, in New Inn Road, Merthyr Mawr, Bridgend.

A woman was jogging in a country lane from the dipping bridge towards Ewenny Garden Centre when a vehicle approached her from behind.

The 4x4 hit her back and the rear of her legs with the impact forcing her onto the bonnet of the vehicle before she fell into dense shrubbery at the roadside.

The large grey 4x4 vehicle was possibly a Nissan X trail and was being driven by an elderly lady who failed to stop.

The victim was taken to Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend, where she received treatment for minor injuries.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "Officers investigating this incident are appealing to the driver of the 4x4 vehicle to contact PC 5470 Missen in the Central Roads Policing Team at Bridgend Police Station on telephone 101 quoting ref: 2000239881.

"Officers are also appealing to anyone with information about this incident, or witnesses, to contact them on 101 quoting the reference above."
