WAKAYAMA -- A female giant panda cub has been born at the Adventure World amusement park in Shirahama, Wakayama Prefecture, the park's operator said Wednesday.
This brings the total number of giant pandas born at the park to 17.
It was the first panda birth at Adventure World since September 2016, rewriting the park's own record for successfully breeding the most pandas outside China.
The new cub was born to father Eimei, 25, and mother Rauhin, 17, on Tuesday night. The 15.5-centimeter baby weighed 75 grams, making her the smallest of all the pandas born at Adventure World.
She has been moved to an incubator where the park's staff are feeding her, according to Adventure World.
