Female footballer breaks down after recalling alleged rape ordeal near Ayrshire pub

A young female footballer broke down in tears after telling a jury today that she was raped by an Ayrshire man on her first night out.

The 19-year-old stated she was led to a grassy muddy area after meeting Graham McClung at The Buf bar in Prestwick, between September 14 and 15, 2019.

The teen claimed she thought she was going to kiss the man before he forced himself on her- despite repeated pleas to stop.

McClung, 29, is on trial at the High Court in Glasgow accused of raping the woman to her injury.

The woman told jurors in evidence that she had been on a night out - then aged 17 - with her football team.

She stated that she danced with a man in his twenties through the night.

The woman claimed to have briefly left the club after a parent asked her to come home.

She added: "I said to myself this was my first night out, I'm going to enjoy it, so I went back."

The woman claimed she hadn't spoke to the man until he asked her to leave with him around 11.30pm.

Prosecutor Craig Murray asked how the witness felt about it.

She replied: “It didn't have any effect on me, I just kind of went.”

Mr Murray followed up by asking what the woman expected to happen – she said: “A kiss.”

The woman said the pair walked down a lane across from the nightclub into a “muddy grassy area.”

The woman said they had a “sloppy” kiss before the man touched her on the breasts.

She broke down in tears when Mr Murray asked if the man touched her anywhere else on the body.

She said: “He used his hand and put it under my skirt.”

The teen said she was groped by the man which put her in “shock” and she tried to push him away.

The woman stated the man forced her to perform a sex act on him before he allegedly bent her over.

Mr Murray asked if she said anything in response.

She replied: “I told him to stop.”

The woman claimed the man then raped her.

Mr Murray asked what was going through her mind at that moment.

The witness replied: “I didn't want to be there.”

The woman further stated she was slapped on the buttocks which caused her to fall on her stomach.

She claimed the man picked her up to her feet and performed another sex act on her before asking if she “liked that.”

The woman stated he performed a final sex act on her despite asking him again to “stop.”

She added: “I tried to [resist] and move back...I was unable to, he had his hand on my head.”

McClung of Tarbolton, denies the single charge.

The trial continues before judge Thomas Welsh QC.
