Female cyclist 'seriously injured' in crash on Dorset Street in Dublin city centre

A woman has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a collision in Dublin city centre last night.

The cyclist was brought to the Mater Hospital after the collision on Dorset Street between the Blessington Street and Eccles Street junctions.

Emergency services raced to the scene shortly before 10pm, Dublin Live reports.

The road was closed both ways for a short period, with motorists advised to avoid the major route.

Gardai later confirmed the road had been reopened and the woman had been removed to hospital.

A garda spokesperson said: "The RTC has been cleared from Dorset Street which is now open and traffic flowing again. 

"Female pedal cyclist removed to Mater Hospital with serious injuries."
