Female cyclist in critical condition with head injuries after crash with tractor in Carmarthenshire

A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after a crash between a bike and a tractor in Carmarthenshire .

The incident happened shortly after 1pm on Saturday on the B4310, which connects the villages of Nantgaredig and Brechfa.

An emergency ambulance, a Wales Air Ambulance helicopter and several police cars all attended the scene of the crash, which took place near the village of Felingwm Isaf.

A part of the B4310 was closed for several hours on Saturday following the collision, and the cyclist, who is aged in her 40s, was airlifted to a Cardiff hospital with serious head injuries.

It's understood that the driver of the tractor was unharmed.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We were called on Saturday (August 24) at approximately 1.20pm to reports of a collision between a cyclist and a vehicle near Nantgaredig.

"We responded with one emergency ambulance and our crew was supported by the Wales Air Ambulance.

"One patient was transported by air ambulance to University Hospital Of Wales, Cardiff.”

She remains in hospital on Tuesday in a critical condition.

Police are now appealing for information about the crash and want any potential witnesses to come forward and contact them by calling 101.
