The term “freakshow” gets thrown around loosely when describing novelty fights, but it doesn’t get more freakshow than Russian promotion Epic FC booking a 529-pound man against a 115-pound woman.
That’s what happened this week as the massive Grigory Chistyakov fought Aleksandra Stepakova in a ridiculously absurd matchup that went to a decision, with the judges awarding Chistyakov the win.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Chistyakov fight a female in the cage. In November 2020, he fought bantamweight Darina Madzyuk, who TKO’d the behemoth and parlayed that appearance into a Bellator contract.
If a fight like this never gets made again, MMA would be better for it.
