A man has been charged with illegally possessing ammunition last week in north suburban Evanston.

Andre Laden, 26, is charged with a felony count of unlawful use of a weapon and a misdemeanor count of possession of ammunition without a FOID card, according to a statement from Evanston police.

The Evanston Police Department‘s Special Operations Group executed a search warrant about 7:15 p.m. July 31 at Laden’s home in the 1800 block of Lake Street, police said. Investigators found a pistol magazine loaded with 15 rounds of 9-mm ammunition and a plastic baggie containing three more 9-mm rounds.

Laden, who has a prior felony conviction, told detectives an acquaintance left the ammunition in his home, police said.

He previously pleaded guilty in 2016 to a charge of unlawful use of a weapon, according to Cook County court records.

Laden was issued a $25,000 personal recognizance bond for the latest charges during a hearing Aug. 1, according to police and court records. He is due to appear in court again on Aug. 15 in Skokie.
