Felipe Anderson scouting report: Brazilian thrills and brings West Ham fans off their seats

0-15 minutes

Started slowly and popped up on both flanks as he tried to get into the game. Played one very sloppy pass straight out of play when it was intended for Ryan Fredericks. Had the best chance of anyone in the first 15 minutes but was denied by a finer Zimmermann block.

15-30 minutes

Really grew into the game and became very influential in anything that was good from the home side. But, as we have seen before, his decision making in the final third lets him down. One superb run led to the Brazilian rampaging into the box but he took too long and his cross was easily cut out with two teammates waiting in the middle.  Left Zimmermann for dead in one move.

30-45 minutes

Was a bit quieter as Manuel Lanzini was running the show in midfield. The Hammers started to play with a bit more patience and weren't really using Anderson's pace on the counter.  Did produce a moment of genius as he ran across the halfway line and beat three players while doing so with absolutely effortless ease.

45-60 minutes

Played a lot wider on the left to started the second half hugged the touchline more than in the first 45. Made a fool out of Max Aarons on the touchline and the Norwich right back was forced to take him down and take a booking as well.

60-75 minutes

Ran Aarons ragged and ground the right back into submission. His link up play with Masuaku down the flank was excellent as he toyed with the Canaries at times.  He was patient in his buld up but could just flick a switch and off he went past two or even three flundering Norwich players.

Had two shots on goal well saved by Krul as the Brazilian kept up his energy and intensity levels, he didn't let up whatsoever. He continued to give Aarons a roasting, time and time again.

Overall

It was Anderson's best performance of the season and was certainly up there with the purple patch he enjoyed around Christmastime last year when he scored seven goals in nine games.

He could have got on the scoresheet at least one, maybe twice, on Saturday.

We all know that the former club-record signing can blow very hot or very cold - on Saturday, he feasted on Canary meat as he was hotter than a furnace.
