Felipe Anderson posts injury update and gives boost to West Ham ahead of Brighton match

Felipe Anderson has taken to social media to provide an update on the injury he sustained during the 5-0 defeat to Manchester City at London Stadium on Saturday.

And it's good news as well as it appears the Hammers former record signing has returned to training with no lingering effects from the leg issue that forced him off against the reigning Premier League champions at the weekend.

Anderson made way midway through the second half after being involved in a heavy challenge and after some treatment, tried to re-enter the fray to run it off.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini had already made his mind up not to allow the winger the continue however and he was subsequently replaced by Javier Hernandez as Man City ran riot.

Anderson missed just two games through injury last season and after the match on Saturday, explained what happened with his substitution.

The Brazilian said: "I picked up a small injury.

"I tried to get back in, but I think it's good that I didn't because we're just starting and I have all the rest of the season to play."

He was assessed by the medical staff at Rush Green on Monday as the players returned to training and posted an update on Tuesday of him on an exercise bike so the news looks good ahead of the trip to Brighton this Saturday in the Premier League.

Jack Wilshere also picked up a knock in the City game but should be fine for this weekend. One player who is unlikely to make the game though is Mark Noble as football.london understands he is unlikely to be involved until the Watford game on August 24.

It remains to be seen if the Hammers will or will not risk Anderson this weekend with a gruelling nine-month slog of the 2019/20 season on the cards but the player has seemingly indicated he is ready and raring to go at the AMEX.
