Felipe Anderson offers glimpse into how West Ham's players are staying fit at home

Felipe Anderson has given us a glimpse into how he is keeping himself in shape when training from home like many footballers are currently having to do.

West Ham’s Rush Green training ground is open but only for non-contact work, with a skeleton staff on site, no food is allowed to be eaten or showers to be taken as the players spend as little time there as they’re allowed.

The Covid-19 pandemic shut the training ground for almost a week before it was reopened on a very basic scale as the Premier League has remained suspended until at the very earliest, April 30.

Five West Ham matches have been postponed amid the coronavirus pandemic and as such, the players have all been given individual fitness and nutrition regimes to keep themselves fit and healthy for when the football does eventually return.

Anderson, a £42m capture from Lazio in the summer of 2018, posted on social media a video of how he is training at his apartment in central London

Anderson has a set up for some very short sprints, which you can see in the video above.

He also, rather funnily, enlists the help of his German Shepherd dog, basically using it as a defender almost, to do some ball work.

Hammers skipper Mark Noble revealed last week his training regime at home, which involves a lot of running on treadmills and the players also log in their training on an app which is monitored by the coaching staff.

The players also have a group Whatsapp to keep in touch with each other while they spend most of their time away from the training ground.

The captain said last week: “It's been only a week and, to be honest, there have been times during a long season when you crave a few days off, just to help with the aches and pains — but the reality is that, after a couple of days, you actually feel you're seizing up because the body is so tuned to regular training.

"My back has started to feel sore and I've suffered some nerve pain, but I know that will go when I'm back in proper training.”
