Féile an Phobail taking submissions for their 'biggest festival yet' in 2020

Féile an Phobail have announced that they're now taking submissions for their 2020 festival, as well as confirming the dates for this summer's festival, which will take place from July 30 to August 9.

This will be the 32nd year of the festival, which aims to promote community arts in west Belfast.

Last year's event saw tens of thousands of people come to the area to see performances from the likes of Boyzone and the Féile Dance Night, as well as a thrilling night of boxing as Michael Conlon defeated Argentinian Diego Ruiz.

Féile aims to bring together local as well as international talent, meaning that there's lots of opportunities for Belfast-based artists to make submissions and get the chance to take part in this event.

Speaking about the announcement today, festival director Kevin Gamble said: “This year’s August Féile will be our biggest yet.

“We are now welcoming event proposal submissions. Proposals can include a wide range of events and activities, including music, drama, literary, youth, family, community, sports, visual arts and talks and debates.

“Our flagship August Féile will run this year from Thursday 30th July to Sunday 9th August.

“Féile an Phobail continues to grow year on year and we are now the biggest community arts festival in Ireland, with over 300 events over 10 days last August.

“I am asking those interested to contact our programme and events manager by email at grainne@feilebelfast.com to request an event proposal form. The deadline to submit proposals is Friday 27th March.

“We already have some massive events lined up and now we want to ensure that our full events programme is our biggest and best yet.”
