NICOLA Sturgeon has responded to Donald Trump after he made an unprompted shot at the former first minister as he left Scotland.
Sturgeon, who served as first minister from 2014 until 2023, responded on social media after Trump told journalists he "did not have a lot of respect" for "the woman that preceded" John Swinney.
The US president was on Air Force One before as they prepared to leave for Washington after his four-day trip to Scotland. Trump met the current First Minister John Swinney on Monday evening at a private dinner, and the two had a more formal meeting on Tuesday ahead of the course opening.
Afterwards, Trump called Swinney a "terrific guy," and later said he had "a lot of respect" for Swinney.
He then continued: "I didn't have a lot of respect for the woman that preceded him.
"I thought she was terrible as a first minister of Scotland. But I think John is doing a very good job as First Minister."
In response, Sturgeon posted on her Instagram story: "Feeling was mutual, Donnie. Forever proud to represent all the things that offend your view of the world."

The pair have had a long-running feud. Back in February 2023, Sturgeon's resignation announcement caught the eye of Trump who bid her “good riddance” before labelling her “a woke extremist”.
He also accused Sturgeon of fighting him over his golf courses in Scotland.
In a statement, Trump said: “Good riddance to failed woke extremist Nicola Sturgeon of Scotland!
“This crazed leftist symbolizes everything wrong with identity politics. Sturgeon thought it was OK to put a biological man in a women’s prison, and if that wasn’t bad enough, Sturgeon fought for a ‘Gender Recognition Reform Bill’ that would have allowed 16-year-old children to change their gender without medical advice.”
He went on: “I built the greatest golf properties in the world in Scotland, but she fought me all the way, making my job much more difficult.
“The wonderful people of Scotland are much better off without Sturgeon in office.”
