Tottenham Hotspur booked their place in the Europa League fourth qualifying round with a 3-1 win against FK Shkendija tonight.
Spurs will welcome Maccabi Haifa to north London next week as they look to reach the competition’s group stage.
Erik Lamela opened the scoring, before Valmir Nafiu equalised for the hosts in North Macedonia.
However, Tottenham proved too much for Shkendija, with Heung-min Son and Harry Kane scoring twice in nine minutes for Jose Mourinho’s side.
There was a first start for new signing Joe Hart, as Mourinho rested a host of senior players, while Tanguy Ndombele came in for a lot of love after the game.
Here’s how the Tottenham supporters reacted to the 3-1 win on Twitter.
@stu_f_t: Feeling the love tonight for Tanguy, thought he had a great game, 2nd consecutive start, 1st 90 mins since end December. Him n Gio gonna boss that midfield.
@Aloob007: Ndombele second half bossed it.
@AbhiSpurs: Lucas, Lamela & Lo Celso drives the team & the team is Kane & Sonny.
@Daily_Hotspur: #thfc finally have a midfield! @LoCelsoGiovani x @TanguyNdombele.
@naRead13: OK so let’s dissect, Dele looked laboured (shame) could do nothing about their goal.. Ndombele looked great, a few Shkendija players leaving with bruises.
@coyskine: Serge with competition for right back thought he did alright tonight.
@Ajith_Chandran_: My man’s a beast. Absolutely loved that build up in the 87th min from Tanguy to Kane to Son.
@Tahir_E17: Job done. Few edgy moments after we conceded, but we’ve come out with the win, without any injuries and Ndombele got the full 90 mins. Would’ve liked Dele to play more but we don’t always get what we want.
@BenHotspur: Well we made hard work of that, enough said, move on @SpursOfficial.
@BillyRWebb: Great 90 for Ndombele. Disappointed with Bergwijn. Need/expecting a lot more from him.
