'Feel sorry for him' - Kamil Grosicki to Nottingham Forest transfer saga latest

It is almost two weeks thought Nottingham Forest thought they had signed Kamil Grosicki on a season-long loan from West Bromwich Albion.

However, the deal is yet to be ratified or rejected after a huge wrangle over the timing of the paperwork to the conclude the deal being submitted.

What is the state of play?

Forest could have to wait until Thursday to find out whether the Poland international is their player, following an arbitration hearing.

A deal was agreed for the West Bromwich Albion winger to join the Reds on domestic deadline day, on October 16.

However, a dispute about whether the paperwork was submitted in time has left Grosicki’s move in the balance.

According to the Telegraph, a hearing was held today, with a “decision expected by Thursday morning”.

How did we get to this point?

Forest were first linked with a move for Grosicki when Martin O'Neill managed the Reds.

He came close to joining at the start of October on the deadline for deals involving clubs from different companies.

Both Albion and Forest thought the deal was done on October 16, but according to the Athletic's Albion reporter Steve Madeley, the Reds submitted the forms 21 seconds after the 5pm deadline.

Forest's lawyers are now arguing their case that the deal should still be approved.

What have the managers said?

Forest's Chris Hughton said: “As manager, I’m very much hoping it (a decision) is going to be soon.

“I can only pass on the information I’ve been given, and that is that it’s still very much in the hands of the club and the Football League.

“But let’s hope there’s a decision as soon as possible.

“It’s something we all want to happen, and happen as quickly as possible.

“Let’s hope it’s soon.”

Hughton's opposite number Slaven Bilic last week said: "I feel sorry for him. He’s a brilliant guy, and also from our point of view we need to know if we can include him in the squad or whether he is going to become a Forest player.

“Hopefully we’ll know today. The sooner the better, for him and us and also for Forest I suppose. We still don’t know. It’s still speculation, we’re still waiting for the FA.

“We’ve kept the space, but the reason we needed Kamil to go was because we needed the funds. We needed to offload somebody to get the players in - that was the reason.

“As a manager, he’s a quality player. He’s a proven player.”
