Cessnock City Council has prepared a Draft Heddon Greta - Cliftleigh Corridor Structure Plan and is inviting the community to have its say.
The Heddon Greta - Cliftleigh Urban Corridor lies between the strategic centres of Kurri Kurri and Maitland.
The draft plan seeks to identify and address current and future infrastructure and servicing needs within the corridor and considers issues such as the road network, service infrastructure, constraints, connectivity, and open space. It also identifies a range of actions to improve liveability.
Between April 4 and May 6, council is calling on the community to provide input to the draft plan to help refine these actions, as well as identify any additional improvements that could be made within the corridor.
Council will be hosting a series of drop-in information sessions throughout April where the community can find out more about the plan, and provide input. The sessions will be held from 2pm to 5pm on April 12 at Kurri Kurri Golf Course, 7am to 9am on April 21 at Cliftleigh Meadows District Park, and 2pm to 5pm on April 26 at Kurri Kurri Golf Course.
Residents can also have their say via an online survey and an interactive map on council's website or by making a written submission.
Cessnock mayor Jay Suvaal said this area had experienced substantial population growth in the past decade and he was glad to see a structure plan being put in place.
"With so much housing development, and so many new residents moving to the area, it's important to put a plan in place that provides a coordinated approach for any future development and infrastructure delivery," he said.
"I strongly encourage residents to visit council's website, view the draft plan, and take part in the consultation."
