Federico Fernandez compares 'natural talent' Allan Saint-Maximin to former Napoli team-mate

Allan Saint-Maximin is a 'natural talent' who can reach the 'top of the game' in the next few years.

That's the view of Newcastle United team-mate Federico Fernandez, who has compared the fans' favourite to former Argentinian and Napoli forward Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Saint-Maximin has committed his future to United, penning a new six-year deal and describing Tyneside as his 'home'. The former Nice forward has quickly endeared himself to supporters with his direct style of play, and his interactions on social media.

Saint-Maximin shone in the Magpies' last outing, scoring the opener and setting up the second goal in the 3-1 victory over Burnley. The 23-year-old has stressed his desire to replicate the impact of fellow Frenchman David Ginola in black-and-white, and hopes to improve his attacking returns in his second season in English football.

Fernandez has showered his team-mate with praise, and admits he reminds him of his Argentinian compatriot Lavezzi from his stint at the San Paolo Stadium.

Speaking on The Big Interview with Graham Hunter, Fernandez said: "Allan for me has a natural talent that is difficult to find. His dribbling and his quality is amazing.

"He has a similar feel to [Ezequiel] Lavezzi. With the ball, they look like they're in trouble but they always find a way out of people. They go down to the floor but get up quickly.

"The guy is young and if he improves his game and the decisions he makes, he will be in a few years at the top of the game."
