Federico Chiesa's agent addresses £6m request 'rumours' amid Newcastle transfer links

Federico Chiesa's agent has released a statement denying 'rumours' suggesting the Juventus forward has demanded almost £7 million per season to renew his contract. The Italy international is facing an uncertain future with the Serie A giants, with Liverpool and Newcastle United among the clubs linked with a summer move.

Chiesa has returned to action following a lengthy time on the sidelines due to a serious knee injury, but his relationship with Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has cast doubt over his role next season. The 25-year-old, who shone during Italy's triumph at Euro 2020, does not naturally fit into the manager's preferred 3-5-2 system.

The forward has two years left to run on his contract, and Juventus are said to be open to his sale and that of a number of first-team stars after missing out on Champions League qualification. Recent reports suggested Chiesa was said to be asking for €8 million per year to renew his deal, but agent Fali Ramadani has moved to dismiss these claims in Italian media.

The statement released to Italian outlet Calciomercato reads: "Regarding the rumours released in recent days regarding the future of Federico Chiesa, Fali Ramadani, the player's agent, denies the rumours about a request for eight million euros made by the player to sign the renewal of the contract with Juventus FC"

The report goes on to suggest Chiesa is viewed as 'expendable' by his current club in order to finance any arrivals. Aston Villa are also credited with an interest, although the forward's interest in a move to the club has been questioned.

Newcastle are already raiding Serie A for their first senior summer signing, with a deal for AC Milan star Sandro Tonali expected to be completed this week. Juventus are reportedly hoping to bank in the region of £50m to sanction the sale of Chiesa this summer.
