Federal Agents Execute Search Warrant on WWE’s Vince McMahon

Federal law enforcement agents executed a search warrant on WWE executive chairman Vince McMahon last month, the company revealed in regulatory filing Wednesday.

According to the company’s quarterly filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, agents executed the warrant July 17 and also served him with a federal grand jury subpoena. During Wednesday morning’s investors call, WWE CEO Nick Khan declined to comment on the situation.

The company launched an investigation in June 2022 into allegations of sexual misconduct by McMahon and his “secret” payments of millions of dollars to keep his accusers from speaking out. The company announced in November that its investigation had concluded, but a federal investigation remains ongoing. Federal prosecutors and the SEC reportedly began investigating McMahon’s hush money payments in July ’22.

The scandal led McMahon to retire from his position as CEO and chairman of WWE about a month after the company announced its investigation. But the retirement was short-lived. McMahon returned in January after only six months away from the business, positioning his return as a move that would help facilitate a sale of the company. In April, WWE agreed to be sold to UFC’s parent company, Endeavor. WWE said in its Wednesday filing that it expects the sale to be finalized by the end of the year.

WWE also revealed in Wednesday’s filing that McMahon is currently on medical leave after undergoing “major spinal surgery” but will remain the company’s executive chairman.
