Fed-up shoppers left unimpressed by Poundland's 'sexist' t-shirt range

Poundland has come under fire for their t-shirts that are being sold in stores, with some branding them as "sexist".

On the run up to the most anticipated Scotland and England Euro2020 match, Poundland took to Facebook to show off their t-shirts by posting an image of the tops for young girls on their main page. The tops read 'future WAG' and 'Goal Digger', MEN reports.

The budget store wrote: "Get goal-ready for this evening's game! What are your score predictions?"

Rather than answering the question, hundreds gathered in the comments with many lashing out at Poundland over the messages on the clothes.

One couldn't believe her eyes: "Does that t-shirt actually say ‘Future WAG’? How derogatory!"

"What the hell is this sexist nonsense? Poundland, do you have any women, or men with daughters, on your product purchasing/marketing team? If so, they should be ashamed of themselves," An angry shopper commented.

"What a horrible horrible message to be giving to women and girls...it’s 2021 you know!"

"2021 and this is still what we get?" a third echoed.

An outraged mum lashed out and said: "You need to change that future wag to future baller! What century are you in Poundland? Pathetic."

Others, however, were more understanding.

"Surely I'm not the only one that isn't offended by these. It's just a bit of fun, if you don't like them then don't buy them," one interjected.

Another said: "The amount of people offended over a t-shirt on here is crazy."

"Nothing wrong being a WAG in fact you women are demoralising women by slating them.... look into these women’s net worth and businesses they do pretty well for themselves and are self sufficient. So they married a successful man good on them," a third argued.

A Poundland spokesperson told the Manchester Evening News that the clothing range wasn't a new addition to the store, adding: "It’s stock that was available during the 2018 World Cup in Russia and while they’ve been popular, we appreciate the feedback."
