Fed up Edinburgh pub bosses hit out at Covidiots who are wrecking their beer garden

Fed up bosses at Edinburgh's Cramond Inn say they are growing sick and tired of lockdown rule-breakers wrecking their beer garden.

Groups of youths and adults have been gathering for picnics and drinking sessions at benches outside the pub, leaving large amounts of rubbish behind.

Some people have even been damaging benches, plant pots and hedges at the pub, while dog fouling has also become a serious problem.

Owners at the bar highlighted their frustrations on social media, sharing a series of images of Covidiots gathered on the benches. Some photos even show people sitting in the hedges.

They posted: "Plants, hedges and benches have been thrown around and damaged. Plant pots have been emptied out and removed. Beer/wine bottles, food containers and drugs have also been left behind for us to clear up.

"It is not just the young people that are entering and damaging our property. Groups of adults are turning up with picnics and alcohol; along with ice buckets for their wine. These groups have caused damage to our benches etc; they also leave all their rubbish for us.

"Dog walkers bringing their dogs onto our property and letting their fur babies do their personal business and leaving it for us to pick up."

Bosses at the pub say crooks are even using their beer garden to hide stolen items.

They added: "Our garden has also been used to hide stolen goods that have been taken from gardens/ sheds in the area... bikes, scooters etc. We do have CCTV footage of this but as the police are dealing with it we will not publish the photos of these individuals.

"We will not go into the abuse we receive when we ask people to leave or not enter our property.

"The photographs we have shown here are just one incident, and trust us there are many. The list is getting bigger day by day."
