Fed authorities recall patio benches sold by Target; 1 injury reported

MINNEAPOLIS _ At least six incidents of patio benches sold by Target collapsing, including one instance involving injury, prompted federal authorities Monday to announce a recall.

About 1,3000 of the benches were sold nationwide and online at Target.com under the brand name Threshold by the Minneapolis-based retailer in 2016 from January through July, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

During one of the six reported collapses involving the Chinese-made benches, one person suffered a knee injury, the federal agency said.

Consumers are being encouraged to return the benches to any Target store for a full refund. They sold for $150 individually and as part of a $1,000 dining set.

More information, including model numbers associated with the recall, can be found online at tinyurl.com/jp7shl2.
