Industrial action across a number of sectors is set to continue into February.

Teachers, nurses, and train drivers are among those who will go on strike this week, with the walkouts set to disrupt public transport, schools, and hospital appointments.

Numerous industries have been striking over pay and working conditions, such as Royal Mail workers and paramedics.

Junior doctors and firefighters are currently running ballots, so more industrial action could be on the way.

Teachers

Members of the National Education Union will go on mass strike on February 1 which will impact 23,400 schools across England and Wales.

This will be followed by six days of regional industrial action, when individual schools will be impacted for four days across the week.

Rail workers and train drivers

Train drivers who are members of the Aslef union will strike on February 1 and 3.

Additionally, members of the Rail, Maritime, and Transport (RMT) union will also strike on February 1 and 3.

Companies affected by these strikes include commuter routes like Thameslink, Southeastern, and Southern.

Bus strikes

There will be strikes on Abellio bus services from February 1 until February 3. The routes affected are mostly in south and west London.

TSSA and Prospect members plan to “work to rule” until the end of February, following industrial action in January.

Elizabeth Line services could be disrupted or cancelled as a result.

Nurses

On strike days, emergency care will be covered but some pre-booked treatments will be disrupted.

Ambulance workers from five ambulance trusts across England and Wales will strike on February 6, the same day as the nurses’ strike.

There will be further strikes on February 20, and March 6 and 20.

Physiotherapists

Physiotherapists will strike on February 9 following a strike on January 26. More than 4,000 members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) will walk out in a dispute over pay.
