A nan in her 60s has been left with a broken leg and pelvis after being hit by a Land Rover and thrown into the air on her way home from the shops in Old Swan.
Residents fear it is "only a matter of time" before someone dies on Broad Green Road following a serious incident which has left a pensioner in hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Merseyside Police are investigating the road traffic collision, which happened on April 12 at about 5.20pm.
Shocking CCTV footage seen by the ECHO shows the lady coming out of a newsagents and starting to cross the road before being launched about 15ft in the air after colliding with a 4x4.
A family member confirmed the woman, who did not wish to be named, was left with a fractured knee, broken leg and broken pelvis and remains in hospital.
Local residents have started a petition calling on the city council to install a pelican crossing on Broad Green Road, which they say has become increasingly dangerous.

One person who signed the petition said: "I see cars travelling at speed every day and observe school kids struggle to get across the road."
Another said: "Being a local resident for 52 years I have seen many incidents here including my own daughter being knocked down. A crossing here is essential!"
There are three schools on Broad Green Road, which is a route through to the M62. There are also a number of sheltered accommodations for the elderly there.

Local resident Martin Ralph, who started the petition after witnessing the aftermath of the collision, said: "[Broad Green Road] is seen as a bit of a rat run. Almost every day we can see cars speeding on the road.
"There was so many police cars [when the collision happened] I assumed someone had died.
"Do you we have to wait for a child or an elderly person to be killed for a pelican crossing to be put up?"
Mr Ralph, 67, who Local Elections 2019: Labour lose three seats but Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson's biggest problem comes from within after shock move from rival for Old Swan during this year's local elections, added: "I have been out and about knocking on a lot of doors in the last few days everyone that I have talked to in Old Swan feels the same about Broad Green Road.
"Everyone has got a story about it. It was easy to get the petition started up.
"Someone could die, that's what people are saying. Must we wait for someone to be killed before something is done?"
Mr Ralph claims he and other local residents have previously written to the council about the need for a pelican crossing on Broad Green Road. but are determined to keep their campaign going this time around after noticing an increase in traffic over the last few years.
Jan West, who manages Acresfield sheltered accommodation on Broad Green Road, described the injured pensioner as a "really lively lady" and is worried about other elderly residents under her care becoming victim to the dangerous road.
She vowed: "We will be bombarding them [the council] with emails. It's inevitable that this could happen again. There's three schools here, my heart is in my mouth [when kids cross the road]. You can hear the cars screeching all the time.
"It's only a matter of time before someone is killed. There's never a time when it's not busy."
A spokesperson from Liverpool City Council said: “We will be carrying out a traffic survey to determine if the site meets the Department for Transport criteria for a crossing and in the meantime are installing signage to alert drivers about the sheltered accommodation nearby.”
