Fears Scots kitten was ‘sodomised’ after suffering horrific injuries to bum and tail sparking abuse probe

The owner of a six-month-old kitten which suffered horrific injuries to its bum and tail fears the youngster was deliberately targeted by an evil abuser.

Little Lucifer went out as normal on Saturday night but began behaving strangely when he returned to his home in Dunfermline, Fife, at around 7.30pm.

He was taken to the vets the following morning after his horrified owner Jordan Wallace discovered a thick mucus-type liquid pouring from his rear end.

The kitten, affectionately known as Little Goose, was examined by medical staff who determined that the liquid was not a body fluid from either an animal or a human.

They discovered that the animal’s anus had also been ‘stretched’ by an unknown object while his tail had been pulled out of the socket.

Police Scotland and the Scottish SPCA have both been informed about the horrendous incident and an investigation remains underway.

His 29-year-old owner explained: “He is just a little six-month-old kitten who runs about, doing his own thing.

‘He went out through the window on Saturday evening but when he came in again, he just lay down which is not like him.

“He usually comes in, walks about the house trying to find out where you are and then goes and eats. But it was like he just collapsed.

“He’s such a gannet with his food. He even pushes the other cats out the way to eat theirs. He normally comes running when he hears the food bowls but he didn’t.

“I took it to him and he wouldn’t even touch it so I knew something was wrong. My partner and I kept an eye on him for most of the night.

“We noticed that his tail and his two back legs were soaking but we didn’t know where it had come from. He hadn’t moved from the spot where he initially collapsed.

“I thought maybe he had wet himself or something but the next morning, when I lifted his tail, there was clear, really thick mucus hanging out his back end.

“I was brought up with cats all my life and I own five just now. But I’ve never, ever seen anything like this. I burst into tears and called the vet.

“When I went to put him in his carrier, he just flopped in my arms and it was like he couldn’t move.”

Little Lucifer was given antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and painkillers to try and keep him comfortable as vet staff tried to determine what was wrong.

He was kept in overnight due to concerns about his sky-high temperature which meant he was at risk of suffering a seizure.

Blood results showed the youngster had a severely high white cell count meaning his body was battling an infection.

As the swelling on his rear end began to subside, the vet discovered the kitten’s anus has been injured.

Jordan said: “They said they didn’t know what the stuff was that was coming out his back end because they had taken samples of it and put it under a microscope.

“They said that it wasn’t any form of bodily fluid from an animal or a human.

“The swelling had gone down on his back end and they noticed that his bum had been stretched about three or four times the normal size.

“This stuff that was in him was not meant to be in him. It’s like someone has put it inside him.

“The vets have obviously been very hesitant about telling me what they think because it’s going to be very hard to prove.

“But from what I’ve been told, it’s become pretty clear that someone has done this to him - especially with his tail injury.

“They’ve since discovered that his tail has been pulled completely out of its socket.

“He’s always been a very skittish cat who runs away from people he doesn’t know so they must have grabbed him by the tail and done what they did.”

The kitten now faces having to undergo surgery to repair his damaged tail while veterinary staff continue to monitor his condition.

Police Scotland have confirmed they are investigating while Lucifer’s worried owner fears her pets are being deliberately targeted.

She explained: “Two months ago, one of my other cats came home and her tongue had been split in two.

“I didn’t think anything of it at the time really and the vet thought she had maybe licked something out on the road.

“But now I'm a bit worried that that was done deliberately too. Obviously I don’t know what’s happened but it makes you think.

“Before this all happened, I hadn’t had any of my cats at the vets since 2017 and the only reason I was there was to get them weighed for their flea stuff.

“That’s why I never had insurance because I never needed it. I know it’s obviously better to have it in the background.

“I have called the SSPCA and the police are coming out to see me on Friday. I just can’t get my head around it.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.40 pm on Wednesday, 1 September, 2021, police in Dunfermline received a report of a 6-month old kitten that had become very unwell a few days earlier.

“The kitten was treated by a vet and the SSPCA were informed.”

Scottish SPCA inspector Stephanie Ross added: “This is an ongoing investigation and we are unable to provide further comment at this time.”

A fundraiser has been launched to help cover the vet bills for Lucifer.
